The Canadian Friends Service Committee acts on the peace and social justice concerns of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Canada. CFSC is looking for Young Friend Internship Programme provides Young Friends and attenders (ages 20-29) with a four month program (1 May - 31 August) within which to engage in the work of CFSC. Friends Fiduciary Corporation has long been the trusted fiduciary for assets of Quaker organizations. It is in the process of implementing a new strategic vision that calls for significant growth and geographic expansion. As a central thrust of that new vision, the newly created position of Chief Investment Officer will work to ensure that FFC’s investing standards, investing performance, and constituent service are second to none. The Chief Investment Officer, will report to the Executive Director and/or to the Investment Committee of the Board of Directors and work closely with other staff members, especially the Finance Office, providing the appropriate due diligence and oversight of Friends Fiduciary’s investment pools. This position requires the financial, analytical, and other qualitative skills to assume primary responsibility for day-to-day oversight of external investment managers. Responsibilities include: ensuring appropriate due diligence with respect to the FFC’s relationship with investment management firms and consultants, implementing a regular schedule of phone and personal interactions, ensuring investment managers are following the prescribed investment strategy, including our socially responsible investment policy, and adhering to contract terms, analyzing performance vs. establishing benchmarks, distilling and communicating information received from managers, monitoring personnel changes with firms, representing FFC to new or potential investment firms, and researching new types of investments.

The Chief Investment Officer will be responsible for maintaining our socially responsible investment policy, have oversight of proxy voting policies and practices and shareholder activities in conjunction with the Executive Director and/or the FCC Investment Committee. This would include final review of all domestic equity purchases for compatibility with FFC’s SRI policy.

The Chief Investment Officer will have primary responsibility for communication of our investment policies and strategies to current and potential constituents, both written and oral; will be a key participant in our marketing efforts and will support the work of the FFC Investment Committee of the Board of Directors.

To carry out our new strategic vision, we need people who are not only highly skilled, but highly flexible team players who enthusiastically take on multiple roles and work well with a diverse community. The selected candidate will be able to adapt to new work situations, people, ideas, procedures, and organizational structure, in order to accommodate an evolving and collaborative work environment.
