Job Summary: Working in close cooperation and collaboration with the Youth Programs Manager, the JYFPA is responsible for co-leading weekend Quaker conferences for the junior high/middle school aged youth of BYM. The JYFPA reports to and is supervised by the Youth Programs Manager, who also attends these gatherings. The JYFPA provides support to and implements policies and programs developed by the Youth Programs Manager, the Youth Programs Committee (YPC), and BYM. This position does not involve any driving for the program. Youth Programs positions are ministry positions in BYM.

General Position Information: The Junior Young Friends Program Assistant (JYFPA) position is a part-time position for weekend overnight conferences, generally once each in October, December, March, and May. The JYFPA is not asked to attend any additional meetings. Weekend-long conference participation with adolescents at sites that do not have sleeping or bathing facilities is a regular component of the position. Sleeping on floors, occasionally outdoors, is routine. These conferences are held at sites throughout the Yearly Meeting territory (the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, southern and central Pennsylvania, and parts of West Virginia). Baltimore Yearly Meeting (BYM): BYM is a vibrant community of more than 50 local Quaker Meetings in the middle-Atlantic area with a rich 341-year history of worship and social witness. This vibrancy is demonstrated in an array of programs, the largest of which is a summer camping program serving approximately 550 campers each year, complemented by a year-round youth activities program. Friends of all ages are invited to attend our week-long residential Annual Session in August. Adult programs through the year include a Spiritual Formation Program and annual Women’s Retreat. Other programssupport local Meetings, helping to develop leadership and spiritual nurture. BYM staff, along with numerous committees and working groups, support a wide range of activities.
